Heat Illness Prevention
REQUIRED FOR MANY EMPLOYERS IN CALIFORNIA
REQUIRED FOR EMPLOYERS IN OTHER STATES THAT FACE A RECOGNIZED HEAT HAZARD IN THE WORKPLACE.
THIS POSTER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ALL-ON-ONE POSTER. IT MUST BE ORDERED IN ADDITION TO THE ALL-ON-ONE POSTER.
Many workers spend some part of their working day in a hot environment. Workers in the industries listed below often face hot working conditions that pose special hazards to the safety and health of these employees.
California issued "emergency regulations" on August 22, 2005 after several workers died from apparent heat-related illnesses. Don't take a chance! Be sure your employees and supervisors know the signs, symptoms and dangers of heat related illnesses. Our poster also explains what to do to help prevent heat illnesses & provides an area to write in "emergency" phone numbers.
Cal-OSHA has made Heat Illness an enforcement priority pursuant to the Heat Illness standard (GISO §3395). Below is a partial list of industries in California that must have an active Heat Stress Injury and Illness Prevention Program.

The General Duty Clause requires each employer to "furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees."
