Test Validation & Analysis Program(tm)
SOME BACKGROUND ABOUT EMPLOYER NEEDS
If you are an employer with 15 or more workers on the payroll, you are subject to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures (41 CFR 60-3). The Uniform Guidelines require employers to test their employment data to assure themselves that they are not illegally discriminating against a group of people based on race, sex, age, religion, or some other protected category.
Furthermore, employers are required to "prove" that their employment processes do not illegally discriminate. Any employment selection device such as a written test or job interview is subject to scrutiny under the Uniform Guidelines.
Two things are very important about statistical analysis:
(1) Knowing what data to use in the test, and
(2) Knowing what analytical formulae to use in the test.
HOW TVAPtm CAN HELP YOU
For Novice Users: The Test Validation & Analysis Programtm (TVAPtm) includes a step-by-step walk through the test validation and analysis process. Complex statistical calculations are reduced to color-coded cells making interpretation simple.
For Advanced Users: TVAP seamlessly integrates the entire process into one program and, because the program operates in MicrosoftR ExcelR, integrating custom features is a simple process.
TVAP Program Includes:
- Installation CD with Highly-Integrated TVAP Excel Workbook Programs
- Test Validation Survey (for SMEs to rate test items)
- Instruction Manual for Completing the Test Validation Survey
- Test Item writing Guidelines
- Instructions for Conducting an Effective Angoff Panel for Setting Cutoff Scores
The programs include new statistical procedures recommended by the latest professional testing standards (1999):
- Decision Consistency Reliability
- Conditional Standard Error of Measurement
TVAP conducts item analysis, item bias evaluation, and calculates three cutoff score options to address the U.S. v. South Carolina Supreme Court ruling.
TVAP analyzes reliability, effectiveness, and adverse impact of each of the three cutoff score options and provides charts to review results by various groups.
