Health Insurance

Prohibits a health care service plan or health insurer from rescinding an individual health care service plan contract or individual health insurance policy for any reason, or from canceling, limiting, or raising the premiums of the plan contract or policy due to any omission, misrepresentation, or inaccuracy in the application form, after 24 months following the issuance of the plan contract or policy. Willful violation is a crime.

Unemployment Insurance

(ABX3 23, 3/27/2009); Asby: Coto

Makes conforming changes to California law that allow California to take advantage of federal stimulus funds that provide extended duration benefits to unemployed California residents.

Unemployment Insurance

Provides for telephonic hearings at the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board.

Unlicensed Contractors

(AB 370, 11/11/2009) ; Asby: Eng

Makes a first conviction punishable by a fine not exceeding $5,000 or by imprisonment in a county jail for no more than 6 months, as specified, or both. A third conviction carries mandatory jail time.

Workers' Compensation

Deletes the sunset provision in current law on pre-designation of physicians by employees.
